The Wilmington Interfaith Hospitality Network (WIHN) unites communities of faith in a collaborative effort to assist homeless families. On a rotating basis, 13 host congregations provide accommodations and meals for up to four families for one week, four times a year. An additional 25 congregations support the hosts, providing material, human, and financial resources to support the program. Volunteers from the congregations provide meals and support services.A Day Center is located at 411 N. 4th St., where staff work intensively with the families as they seek jobs, housing, health care, and other resources necessary for independent living.

Good Shepherd Center began as a modest soup Kitchen in 1983, when a local church opened its parish hall to serve the homeless a lunch of soup and a sandwich. From this small beginning, the program has grown to include a weekday breakfast and lunch available to anyone in need of food, as well as a dinner meal 7 nights a week for guests of the Night Shelter.

Good Shepherd Center implements two transitional living centers, 18-month programs that offer homeless individuals with a history of substance abuse, an important combination of housing and supportive services. Residents live in a therapeutic community setting, working first and foremost to maintain their sobriety and attending on-site individual and group counseling sessions, as well as community AA/NA meetings.
