Pursuing the passion of Jesus Christ to lift up the hungry, homeless, abused, and addicted is what the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is all about. This is accomplished only by a caring community that supports those who need a “hand up,” a network of individuals, churches, businesses, schools, and organizations who donate their time, talents, and treasure to help hurting people.The Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is a ministry that reaches out to feed, clothe, shelter, and provide healing services to homeless men, women, and families with children. Over 1,000 people sought help through our doors this past year, and we served over 135,000 meals. Since 1955, SBRM has been an ark of refuge for many people.The Rescue Mission is excited to announce "Operation Sock Drive!" in conjunction with The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which comes to movie theatres August 15, and the AGRM. From now until September 3 we are collecting new men's, women's and children's socks and Hanes will match the donation we receive from the public!

Rights of Passage Transitional Living Program:Youth, who are highly motivated, have another opportunity for housing and support while they work and finish their education. Our Rights of Passage (ROP) residential program is a “university for street kids.” ROP residents attend school and work between 50 to 55 hours a week. We provide 24/7 case management support while they build skills and resources for independent living. Kids save 40% of their income and contribute 20% for food and rent.ROP residents have their own, more independent residence on our campus. We operate both a Girls and Boys ROP on-site. Together, the ROP community creates a weekly budget for meals and cooks dinner together in their communal kitchen.

This is still a very serious issue in Caddo Parish. We are concerned with affordable housing for the single parent with children, for persons with special needs, and for our senior citizens.

Young adults live in a supervised apartment while staff members provide assistance and training in areas such as education, employment, computer knowledge, basic cooking, personal hygiene and interpersonal skills.

Hope House will begin its annual Adopt a Family Program on October 6, 2012 through December 18, 2012.This program is designed to help provide a traditional and meaningful Christmas for the homeless women and children who reside at Hope House.
