In collaboration with 42 congregations throughout the Twin Cities metro area, we provide emergency shelter for families at congregation sites; advocate for families in their search for affordable, permanent housing; and provide ongoing supportive services to the families we serve as they make the transition from homelessness to stable housing.

Naomi Family Residence -A safe haven…More than just a biblical name, our women and children's residence takes its direction straight from the words of Naomi: “My daughter, should I not try to find a home for you, where you will be well provided for?" (Ruth 3:1). In addition to shelter and care for previously homeless women with children, our Center for Independence program teaches the skills and infuses the confidence for women to move forward, and with God’s help, provide for themselves and their children.

Up to 10 families a year enroll in this program for working parents. We offer rent assistance for one year, plus ongoing case management to help those enrolled stay on track with their financial, employment and education goals.

Transitional House-Because of a wonderful unexpected donation IHN was able to purchase a single family dwelling that will be used for qualifying families that need a little more time to find housing and employment…but need the stability that a home gives while they search. This is a short term transitional house and families length of stay will be two to three months. The families will continue to work with the Family Stabilizer Counselor while in this transition.

The Welcome Inn provides emergency and short-term transitional housing for homeless and near-homeless individuals and families. Program participants reside at the Welcome Inn, have access to a social worker, and enjoy the security of a facility that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with on-site paid employees and community volunteers.

Welcome Home provides long-term transitional housing (up tp 24 months) for homeless, near-homeless and low income individuals and families. Program participants reside in their own home, but have access to social worker. During an average year, Welcome Home will serve 30 to 35 people. Typically, one third of the total served are adults and two thirds are children.

Concentrating its services on homeless families in the late 1990s, PSP conducted focus groups and compiled a feasibility study relative to the type of facility and services that were needed to serve the seven county homeless population. It was determined that PSP should own a single, larger location near the city's core. In the fall of 1997, PSP embarked on a capital campaign and purchased a building at 614 S. 3rd Street, in downtown Minneapolis.

The Liberty Homes and Apartments Program provides permanent, affordable housing for low income individuals and families and those with special needs. PAH's Liberty Homes and Apartments Program serves over 30 people, and, though most are single adults, the program also accommodates families when possible.
