Our Safe Haven program addresses the long-term housing and service needs of women who are chronically homeless and mentally ill, but are not yet ready to look at permanent housing and/or treatment. Women are served with intensive outreach and engagement interventions, case management and medical services, education services and psychiatric consultation in a 24-hour true living space that is clean, safe and supportive. Professionally skilled staff work to engage women and offer services that, over time, result in stable housing and improve their quality of life.

Our four-month interim housing program provides up to 10 women a safe, structured community where women and staff work together to meet goals such as housing, employment, family reunification, improved health and education. Access to case management, therapeutic, education and employment services enhances opportunities for women to gain housing stability and income.

Complicated, long-term health issues make it difficult for many homeless people to transition into stable housing and maintain it. Our Supportive Living Program focuses on providing clients with the opportunity and resources to better equip themselves for life after Interfaith House. Case Managers open doors to services such as job training, education and financial benefits. This longer-term respite residency offers extended stays at Interfaith House to ensure clients receive the support necessary to maintain stable housing while managing a long term illness or disability.

The Men's Division of Pacific Garden Mission is a constant haven for homeless men with nowhere else to turn.Upon arrival, each man is interviewed by a counselor to determine his individual need. At the conclusion of the interview, he is provided with information regarding meals, overnight accommodations, and the possibility of obtaining clothing and medical assistance. He is then provided a shower, clean sleepwear, and a comfortable bunk in which to sleep.

Formerly the Women's and Children's Ministry was house at the Gospel League Home, at 955 W. Grand Avenue.  In the early 1900's the building was a settlement house and later became a ministry to needy women and children. It was turned over to PGM in the 1980's and was renovated to meet the needs of homeless women and women with children.

One might think that the words “Jewish” and “homeless” don’t belong in the same sentence—but each year, The ARK helps Jews who have been forced into poverty and homelessness by personal or economic problems. The Sarnoff Levin Residence provides up to 120 days of housing, Kosher food and a complete array of supportive services for homeless families and individuals. The primary goals of the program are to stabilize clients’ situations, minimize the trauma of homelessness, and ease the transition into permanent or second-stage housing as efficiently and effectively as possible, drawing upon The ARK’s wide array of services. With bright, clean rooms, nutritious meals and holiday celebrations, the Residence serves as a “home away from home”—a source of shelter, support and the warmth of a caring Jewish community—for 70 or more people each year.
