Peoria Rescue Ministries exists to present the love and life of Jesus Christ as the only way to spiritual and emotional wholeness. 83 years ago, a group of men and women shared the vision of Christ for hurting, needy people. Recognizing the Lord’s mandate to feed the hungry, cloth the naked, shelter the sojourner and visit the imprisoned, they committed themselves to the practical expression of God’s love – and on June 10, 1928 the Wayside Cross Rescue Mission was born.

Transitional Living Community (TLC) serves as the next step on the road to independence for homeless individuals and families at Hesed House.

The 180 Club: Men's Residential Recovery Program -We believe that God can, and does, work miracles in the lives of those seeking to break free from chronic homelessness or to get out from under their addiction to drugs and alcohol.Our program allows men to gain valuable tools and resources, that if applied, will bring about a recovery that is high in quality. Men will also learn self-responsibility, self-sufficiency, and self-respect—all within the safe confines of a Christian environment with a staff who truly cares about them as a child of God.

Victory Acres is committed to being an instrument God can use in the lives of men on the road to recovery. As a long term adult men's recovery program, men commit to a nine to twelve month program designed to teach them to consistently walk with Christ and to develop the basic life skills needed to rejoin society as responsible Christian men.

Esther House serves as a long-term grace-based facility for women and women with children. A daily personal walk with Jesus Christ as Savior is portrayed as the only basis for spiritual and emotional wholeness.

The Life Recovery Program is a residential program offering comprehensive help and hope for men, women and children in desperate circumstances, such as chemical dependency, domestic violence issues, or destructive relationships. Our curriculum offers Bible classes, recovery and relapse prevention training, general life skills application, mentoring, physical fitness and cultural recreation. Our goal is to enable men and women to establish healthy relationships and to develop Godly choices that will benefit their lives and those around them. This long-term program (9-12 months) provides the support necessary for recovery, restoration, and empowerment to sustain a healthy and whole outlook for the future.

A Transitional Living program serving homeless men in Champaign County. The program can house 50 men in Level I and 20 in Level II. Clients receive an array of supportive services to help in preparation for independent living. The program also supports a community soup kitchen serving 3 meals daily, 7 days a week.

A small 8 unit apartment building which accepts a combination of Shelter Plus Care vouchers and program agreements for up to two years which provide transitional living supports and services for individuals transitioning from more intensive settings, such as group homes, back into the community.

Our Safe Haven program addresses the long-term housing and service needs of women who are chronically homeless and mentally ill, but are not yet ready to look at permanent housing and/or treatment. Women are served with intensive outreach and engagement interventions, case management and medical services, education services and psychiatric consultation in a 24-hour true living space that is clean, safe and supportive. Professionally skilled staff work to engage women and offer services that, over time, result in stable housing and improve their quality of life.

Our four-month interim housing program provides up to 10 women a safe, structured community where women and staff work together to meet goals such as housing, employment, family reunification, improved health and education. Access to case management, therapeutic, education and employment services enhances opportunities for women to gain housing stability and income.

Complicated, long-term health issues make it difficult for many homeless people to transition into stable housing and maintain it. Our Supportive Living Program focuses on providing clients with the opportunity and resources to better equip themselves for life after Interfaith House. Case Managers open doors to services such as job training, education and financial benefits. This longer-term respite residency offers extended stays at Interfaith House to ensure clients receive the support necessary to maintain stable housing while managing a long term illness or disability.

The Men's Division of Pacific Garden Mission is a constant haven for homeless men with nowhere else to turn.Upon arrival, each man is interviewed by a counselor to determine his individual need. At the conclusion of the interview, he is provided with information regarding meals, overnight accommodations, and the possibility of obtaining clothing and medical assistance. He is then provided a shower, clean sleepwear, and a comfortable bunk in which to sleep.

Formerly the Women's and Children's Ministry was house at the Gospel League Home, at 955 W. Grand Avenue.  In the early 1900's the building was a settlement house and later became a ministry to needy women and children. It was turned over to PGM in the 1980's and was renovated to meet the needs of homeless women and women with children.

One might think that the words “Jewish” and “homeless” don’t belong in the same sentence—but each year, The ARK helps Jews who have been forced into poverty and homelessness by personal or economic problems. The Sarnoff Levin Residence provides up to 120 days of housing, Kosher food and a complete array of supportive services for homeless families and individuals. The primary goals of the program are to stabilize clients’ situations, minimize the trauma of homelessness, and ease the transition into permanent or second-stage housing as efficiently and effectively as possible, drawing upon The ARK’s wide array of services. With bright, clean rooms, nutritious meals and holiday celebrations, the Residence serves as a “home away from home”—a source of shelter, support and the warmth of a caring Jewish community—for 70 or more people each year.

Provide Shelter: Terms like emergency shelter and transitional housing are common among the programs providing housing services to individuals and families who are homeless. This type of housing is time limited and though it will provide respite, often there is not enough support and intervention to end a family’s poverty. This falling back into the cycle of homelessness reflects limits on programs, not a failure of the family or individual. The ladder out of chronic poverty and persistent homelessness requires achieving and strengthening one level before moving successfully to the next. Shelter Care Ministries is committed to self reflection and evaluation of our programs in our commitment to recognizing the extraordinary and complex needs of families, as well as developing a process for moving towards health and wholeness.

The Transitional Living Program provides case management and life skills education to young families while the live independently in apartments throughout the community. The program assists with budgeting, household management, vocational and educational pursuits and parenting skills. MELD has a total of 22 apartments in the community for young parents between 18-21 years of age.

A two-year Transitional Living Program to assist homeless young women and their children to achieve stability in their lives by providing them with a stable home and intensive support services . There is an after-care component to sustain the family’s stay in permanent housing.

The Group Home provides residential services for young men between the ages of 16 and 21. Transitional living services include employment related services, laundry, cooking, and maintaining their personal space appropriately.  These boys receive 10-15 hours of Case Management Services weekly.

A Department of Housing and Urban Development supported apartment complex with 15 one-bedroom units for individuals with psychiatric disabilities and low or extremely low income. Supportive services are available on site, however tenants are not required to participate in order to lease units in this building.

Since our founding in 1985, we have worked collaboratively with our participants, offered a range of high quality services and tried new approaches – putting Deborah’s Place at the forefront of agencies making a difference to those in need in Chicago.

Deborah’s Place is Chicago’s largest provider of supportive housing exclusively for women and is recognized as an innovative leader among homeless service providers locally and nationally. Since our founding in 1985, we have worked collaboratively with our participants, offered a range of high quality services and tried new approaches – putting Deborah’s Place at the forefront of agencies making a difference to those in need in Chicago.

Deborah’s Place is Chicago’s largest provider of supportive housing exclusively for women and is recognized as an innovative leader among homeless service providers locally and nationally. Supportive housing, which connects social services to affordable or subsidized housing, has been shown to be effective and provide significant savings in time, money and resources. In our supportive housing programs, Heartland Alliance  integrates case management with budgeting, counseling, education, employment, and other services.
